Speaking at the opening of the first Asian-African Youth Festival on Wednesday Mr. Qin Yizhi who is the first secretary of the Secretariat Central Committee of the communist Youth League of China said their president believed in the need to strengthen Asian-African relations saying it would benefit both continents.

Mr. Qin delivered the message on behalf of China’s President Xi Jinping. The president also said that cooperation of the two continents would bring about mutual trust, solidarity and coordination in international affairs.

China’s vice president Li Yuanchao was also in attendance where he launched the festival officially saying Asia and Africa shared similar objectives and goals in achieving national development hence entrepreneurship, innovation and people –to-people exchange has to be promoted and encouraged to enhance cooperation between the two continents.

Over 500 representatives from Kenya, Nigeria, Eritrea, South Africa, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Ethiopia are currently in Beijing for the festival.
