Harambee Stars have made an impressive rise in the Fifa rankings gaining eight places in the December ranking to climb to 109 up from the previous 117 in November.
Stars have continued to improve and after impressive wins during the concluded Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup and in the run to the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, they have risen close to the top 100.
” We are extremely delighted with these results and we are now aiming to move up to the top 100, said Sam Nyamweya FKF President.
” The federation will continue to assist the technical bench in its efforts of improving the team as we seek more international friendless, he added.
National team head coach Adel Amrouche was happy too with the rise.
“It is great news for the national team to rise as much as it has. We have worked hard to ensure the country is ranked in a respectable position and we are committed to ensuring it improves, he added.
Stars are however still way behind Uganda Cranes who are placed in the eighties; food for thought as far as Amrouche is concerned.
“We must look to emulate if not beat them. They are top in the region and we must aim for their placing. We are working on a younger team and with time, I’m confident the results will be more consistent.
